Handmade Ceramic Fisherman Vase Finn Fairweather Super Seconds

Meet Finn Fairweather, fisherman, weather watcher and firm believer that nothing in life should be rushed.

Finn likes early mornings, strong tea and sitting quietly by the water waiting for something to happen. Whether he actually catches many fish is debatable. He maintains that fishing is about patience and contemplation rather than bringing home dinner. His family maintain that he's simply not very good at it.

Usually found in his favourite striped fisherman’s jumper and trusty red woolly hat, Finn is happiest with the sea air on his face and absolutely nowhere he needs to be.

Handmade and individually hand-painted in my Shropshire studio, Finn Fairweather is a one-of-a-kind ceramic fisherman vase, decorated with sea-blue stripes, a glossy dark beard and his wonderfully characterful handmade hat.

His head and hat form the opening of the vase, making him perfect for displaying a few dried flowers, a small posy or some favourite stems. He also looks rather splendid sitting on a shelf just as he is.

The irregularities in his shape, hand-painted lines and little differences in the glaze are all part of his handmade character — there will never be another Finn quite like him.

Why is Finn a Super Second?

It appears even Finn couldn't predict what the kiln was going to do...

There are areas of overglazing and smudging, together with areas where the glaze hasn't taken as intended. These imperfections mean Finn doesn't meet my usual standards for a full-priced Sister Sister piece, so he's joining the Super Seconds Festival instead.

Please take a good look through the photographs before purchasing, where I've shown his imperfections as clearly as possible.

He's still completely unique, wonderfully characterful and perfectly capable of holding a rather fetching bunch of flowers. He just has a few more tales to tell than originally planned.

Perfect for: lovers of quirky ceramics, fisherman gifts, coastal-inspired interiors, character pottery, unusual vases and one-of-a-kind handmade homeware.

Flowers not included. Fishing tales, questionable weather forecasts and a healthy disregard for being in a hurry included as standard. 🎣🌊
